The Annual Section War was a hit! We exceeded our original goal of $5400. SOD Alumni really showed their competitive side and it was seen through their donations.
BSAAA kickstarted a fundraiser on June 19, 2021 to raise money for new garment bags for the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite Marching band after connecting with Band Director Everson Martin about providing services to the program. What started out as a fundraiser goal of just $5400, resulted in funds exceeding twice the original goal amount.

The tuba section, or The Foundation of Funk (FOF) as they like to be called, are known to be the leading section in donations within the SOD Alumni. During the four weeks of the donation period, FOF held the lead for the majority of the period with the trombone section on their heels.

Within he first 24 hours, $935 was raised. The first week ended with just $1342. If we progressed with this same pattern of donations, we would make our $5400 goal by the deadline July 17. Then week two came. You could see the completive spirit of the sections awaken as donations flooded in. Week two closed with us exceeding the original goal with a total of $6521.12 in donations! The fundraiser could have ended at week two but we decided to continue the competition.
The momentum slowed a bit on week three which ended with a total of $7905.52. With the last week approaching, less updates were given to motivate people to give blindly. Donates poured in left and right. Alumni really stepped it up for the love of SOD.

Who will win???
The fundraiser results were posted on July 18. $12,943.76! BSAAA provided an additional donation to round the total of the $13,000. The Trombone section pulled off an amazing victory as this years highest donors! A token of appreciation to the Trombone section will be hung in the band hall for bragging rights. The garment bags have since been purchased ($5,266.85) and the remainder ($7,733.15) was provided through the ASU Foundation for the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite band from the SOD Alumni. We truly appreciate everyone that donated to this inaugural alumni challenge and hope to see even more progress in the future. The main goal is that the students are put in a position to succeed.
